Nominations Now Open! 

The NSW Inspirational Women’s Awards are an initiative of the combined efforts of a group of passionate Women Rotarians in the Greater Sydney and Illawarrra Clubs. In keeping with Rotary’s motto of ’Service Above Self’, the purpose of the Awards is to acknowledge and celebrate community service performed by women through their vocations, selfless gifts of their skills, their time in various activities and endeavours. The Awards recognise the work done by women, the “quiet achievers”, whose actions inspire others and make a real difference in their communities.
 
The Awards are open to all women above the age of 18 years of age across NSW and members of the public are encouraged to submit online nominations at www.riwa.com.au 

ABOUT THE AWARDS

The Rotary Inspirational Women's Awards (RIWA) recognise service to the community across all sectors. They are directed at the non-Rotary community. It is about commitment, dedication, perseverance and proactivity in improving the lives of others.  The Awards are open to women across NSW. There are separate awards for city and rural nominations.

The awards are divided into three categories for 2020:

Inspirational women over the age of 30

·        Urban

·        Rural

Young Inspirational women, 18 to 30 years of age on the date of the awards

·        Urban

·        Rural

Special Category for 2020 Healthcare worker

·        Inspirational woman - women over the age of 30

·        Young inspirational; woman, 18 to 30 years of age on the date of the awards

TIMEFRAMES

·        Wednesday 5 August – Launch & nominations open

·        Wednesday 23 Sept - nominations close

·        Wednesday 7 October – announcement of finalists

·        Sunday 15 November 2020 - event

JUDGING CRITERIA

A panel of independent judges from Rotary Districts will assess nominees on three key criteria:

·        Community service which best exemplifies Rotary's motto of Service Above Self

·        Achievements

·        Personal attributes.

NOMINATIONS

There are so many women who have done extraordinary things since the last Awards including coping with drought, bushfires, floods and COVID. We encourage you to nominate women who have stepped up to the plate in supporting their community.

Nominations open Wednesday 5 August 2020, and will close on 23rd September  - Members of the public and Rotarians are encouraged to submit nominations.

The awards will be judged by panels of Rotarians throughout NSW, who are independent judges, and their decisions will be based purely on the information that you provide.

(**Rotarian/Rotaractor women are ineligible to be nominated.)
